The Fishing Date

Written by: Neil Blakemore

When his grandfather, John, doesn't show up for their usual Sunday fishing date, seven year old George Shelby thinks he's been stood up. When he finds John lying motionless on the couch, with a freshly lit cigarette in his hand, he thinks it is a cruel joke. But as the cigarette catches fire to everything around it, a legacy of broken promises and miscommunication burns swiftly to the surface like the raging fire that consumes John's house, but George must confront that fire before it consumes his relationship with his father.
